(158a) Catalytic C-C Bond Forming Reactions for the Transformation of Biomass to Commodity Chemicals

The formation of new carbon-carbon bonds is essential to the transformation of biomass into commodity chemicals and other value-added products. We have investigated a series of C-C bond forming reactions such as the Diels-Alder reaction, the Prins condensation reaction and the acylation reaction using heterogeneous catalysts. In this talk I will present an overview of this chemistry and its application to the production of valuable chemicals.
