The Division of Chemical, Bioengineering, Environmental, and Transport Systems (CBET) has reorganized and refocused several of the programs within its Engineering Biology and Health cluster. This effort was undertaken to clarify the scope of each of the programs and to minimize programmatic overlap. There are five programs in the EBH cluster: Biophotonics, Cellular and Biochemical Engineering (CBE), Disability and Rehabilitation Engineering (DARE), Engineering of Biomedical Systems (EBMS), and Nano-Biosensing. Four programs have been refocused (all but Biophotonics), and two of those (CBE, Nano-Biosensing) have welcomed new program directors during the past 12 months. These changes have driven and been driven by shifts in research emphasis and scope. These changes will be presented and discussed, as will areas of overlap between programs within the cluster, and with associated programs in other divisions and Directorates at NSF. Recently developed and developing funding initiatives involving programs within the cluster will be described, as will the funding portfolios for each program in the cluster.
