Wet incipient impregnation technique was used for synthesis of various Ni/γ-Al2O3 catalysts. The prepared catalysts were further used for methanation of carbon dioxide. It was noticed that the maximum conversion of carbon dioxide (87.5%) was achieved with 12%Ni/γ-Al2O3 at 300 0C, 6000 mL-gcat-1-h-1 and H2/CO2 molar ratio 4 under atmospheric pressure with 100% CH4 selectivity. The effects of GHSV were also tested between the range of 6000 to 36000 mL-gcat-1-h-1. The synthesized catalysts were also characterized by SEM, EDX, BET, XRD, TPR and TEM to check the surface morphology, elemental analysis, surface area and pore size distribution, phases of metals, reduction peaks and metal dispersion over alumina support, respectively.
