Pyrolysis of waste plastics can accelerates a significant change in gas energy production. This study represents a simplified process simulation model of typical waste polypropylene pyrolysis in an equilibrium reactor using Aspen Plus. The proposed pyrolysis model improves the understanding of the process and can be used as a predictive tool at the optimization stage. It incorporates both physical and chemical processes, focusing on pyrolysis using various inbuilt modules to predict the resulting product gas composition and temperature. A detailed sensitivity analysis investigating the effects of various process parameters and including gas composition details has been presented. This simulation can thus serve as a robust tool to implement a waste plastic pyrolysis plant with optimum yield.
