Dr. Tony Cai holds a B.S. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering from Tianjin University and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Oklahoma State University. Dr. Tony Cai has been FRI’s senior engineer and Assistant director for over 20 years. During this period, Tony played a significant role in leading and shaping the FRI research program.

Tony is a renowned worldwide distillation expert, and provides expert distillation guidance to FRI members all over the world. He also has experience in the areas of fluid dynamic analysis, instrumentation, structural analysis and hydraulic modeling. Tony is an exceptional leader and mentor to FRI engineers, FRI operators, and Oklahoma State University students who work closely with FRI.

Tony’s contributions to distillation are in numerous areas, including but not limited to operational planning of the FRI experimental test program, data collection and analysis, safety, leading joint-technical collaborations, and correlation development.

This paper highlights many of the distillation contributions of Dr. Tony Cai in his tenure at Fractionation Research, Inc. (FRI).
