John Quinn’s academic career spanned 47 years, first at the University of Illinois and then at the University of Pennsylvania. He supervised numerous PhD students and mentored graduates at all levels in their pursuit of careers in industry and academe. He pioneered research in interfacial mass transfer, membrane separations and bio-molecular engineering, introducing concepts that today are considered to be in the mainstream of chemical engineering. In this session colleagues and former students pay tribute to his work, his impact on chemical engineering, and his influence on those who had the privilege of working and studying with him.
