(429d) Applied Learning in Biopharmaceutical Laboratories

The biopharmaceutical industry has a need for competent chemical engineers who are familiar with good manufacturing practice regulations and the hands-on practical knowledge of using specialized equipment such as stainless steel bioreactors and single-use bioreactors. Additionally, the chemical engineers also need to have an understanding of cell culturing techniques and sterility concepts such as clean-in-place and steam-in-place.

This presentation will share approaches on the development of an applied learning biofermentation laboratory course in SIT to train chemical engineers for the biopharmaceutical industry.
