Checkup Mobile Application Abstract

Mobile Application Name: Check Up

Candidate: Ziad Ibrahim

School: Western Michigan University

Checkup is a mobile application designed to make a more safe, efficient and accessible environment for employees working in the chemical manufacturing industry. In current industry, monitoring of property gauges is confined strictly to the control room, making it necessary for employees to remain on site. Checkup gives the user freedom to monitor the various processes from the convenience of their mobile device. The hardware was developed using a microcontroller board, commonly known as the Arduino Yun. Arduino v. 1.6.5 was the software used to program the board by uploading sketches, commanding data from the connected thermometer, to the online program, Temboo. Temboo then sends the data wirelessly to mobile application, Checkup, downloaded to the user’s handheld device. Checkup was developed using Xcode, an integrated development environment containing various development tools developed by Apple for developing software for OS X and iOS. One of the fundamental features implemented by Checkup, is the option to dynamically change the danger threshold. By doing so, the software progressively alerts the user with notifications at increasing levels of urgency. The idea of checkup compliments the evolution of computer control systems. The economical section within a corporation gives reason to the absence of “checkup”. Many facilities are satisfied with their current method in receiving data.
