(6p) Systems Biology Approaches to Develop Precision Therapeutic Approaches to Overcome Drug Resistance in Cancer

My goal is to direct a research program that combines multiplex biochemical measurement, single-cell analysis and novel multi-scale and network-level computational modeling to address fundamental and clinically significant challenges in cancer biology: (i) relating drug action at the molecular scale to phenotypes at the cellular and tissue (tumor) levels, (ii) understanding signaling mechanisms involved in drug-induced adaptive responses that lead to submaximal cell killing and ultimately drug resistance in patients, (iii) developing predictive mathematical models that guide development of safe, effective and personalized therapeutic approaches to overcome drug resistance. My PhD background in multi-scale computational modeling and signal transduction, postdoctoral training in cancer cell signaling and systems pharmacology, strong publication record and successful fellowship and grant applications have all prepared me to successfully accomplish the goals outlined above.
