In the efforts to improve upon the aqueous MEA benchmark for post-combustion CO2 capture, a number of new and advanced aqueous amine solvents have been proposed. While several of these solvents have advanced to slipstream testing, there are still great opportunities and needs for innovation in the design and synthesis of amine compounds that have reduced energy penalty, high CO2 capacities, low volatility, low viscosity, enhanced stability and are economically viable for scale-up. In this presentation, we detail our recent work in developing libraries of new amines that possess these desirable features. Results indicate viability for further scale-up of these solvents in continuous absorber-stripper processes.
