Semi-empirical model was developed to provide a relationship between the plasticization pressure and permeabilities of polymeric membranes used for high pressure CO2 removal from natural gas. A theoretical model was first derived based on the solution – diffusion mechanism. The model derived was then used to perform a multiple regression using permeability and plasticization pressure data from literature. Fair agreement between the model predictions and the experimental values were realized by introducing two model parameters ( κand κ2 ). The values of these parameters are 0.20 and 0.60 respectively. The predicted values of permeability compare favorably well with the experimental values with absolute errors ranging from 0.30 to 35.66%. The coefficient of determination was obtained as 0.987.
