We reported UV irradiation treatment step during the fabrication of organic solar cells can enhance the equipment performance. Previously confirmed, the original fullerenes, such as C60 and C70, and its derivatives, such as PCBM, can undergo photochemical conversion when exposed to visible light, especially ultraviolet radiation. Fullerene monomers can be transformed into oligomers two dimers or higher oligomers. Thermal annealing has been proved to be one of the processing steps of P3HT: PCBM solar cell effectively. But under thermal annealing, PCBM molecules have been shown to diffuse within the blend to form micron-sized fullerene crystals, resulting in severe degradation of device performance. Before the device thermal annealing, ultraviolet ray treatment, found that short light treatment time have improve the device’s performance approximately. UV irradiation treatment time has a best value on the performance of the device which could enhance the effect of the best.
