Fundamentals of Oxide Catalysis II

Chair(s)

Co-chair(s)

Flytzani-Stephanopoulos, M., Tufts University
Cortes-Concepcion, J. A., Savannah River National Laboratory

Papers are sought describing advances in the area of oxide catalysis, including supported or bulk oxides. The emphasis of the session is aimed at an improved understanding of the materials themselves, rather than reporting on a reaction. As such, papers may describe the synthesis of new oxide catalyst materials, spectroscopic or other characterization of the oxide surface, preferably under reaction conditions, mechanistic analysis of important reactions catalyzed by oxides with a goal of identifying active sites and active site changes, or theoretical/modeling efforts in support of these activities. In all cases, papers are sought in which the oxide is the active species, rather than acting as a nominally inert carrier. Submission of papers describing routine experiments or reactions is discouraged unless new fundamental knowledge in the above areas (characterization, synthesis, or function) is revealed.
