Mesoporous materials, with larger pore size and ordered pore structure, have attracted world-wide attention in catalysis, environment and chemistry field. However, there are still lots of difficulties in preparation of controllable structure and high performance mesoporous materials in low-cost, blocking its application. The template commonly used in the synthesis process of mesoporous materials, which are typically expensive and difficult to be removed and recycled to reuse, is a critical factor. In this research, a novel process for the economical and controllable synthesis of mesoporous materials using temperature-sensitive intelligent gel as template is proposed. The intelligent gel template, with novel temperature-sensitive phase-transition properties, is easy to be removed and recycled to reuse. Two representative inorganic mesoporous materials (mesoporous alumina and mesoporous silica) was designed and synthesized, with controllable morphology, crystal composition, pore size and mesostructure, using the intelligent gel as template. Furthermore, the connection between the synthesis conditions and structure of the mesoporous material, as well as the growth mechanism, will be presented.
