Jalali, Y. - Presenter, Lehigh University

Development of three online learning modules on the topic of energy efficiency in industry has been initiated in affiliation with the IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES). These modules will be placed in the IEEE eLearning Library upon review and completion. The first module addresses introductory aspects of energy efficiency. Topics include how to interpret industrial energy losses, analyze energy management programs, and distinguish the potential for energy efficiency in various equipment and processes. The module was developed based on a comprehensive literature review of energy efficiency in industry, focusing on the U.S. industrial sector. Adult learning and multimedia learning theories have been used in order to create a unique learning platform for informing and motivating industrial professionals in regard to energy efficiency opportunities. The course also provides an informative training resource for engineering graduates. In this paper, comprehensive literature review about energy efficiency in industry is presented. The study then reviews the instructional design of the first module.
