Development of mercury sorption technology has recently emerged as an environmental challenge, most recently in response to the US EPA Mercury and Air Toxics Standards Rule, finalized in 2012.  This talk wiill cover recent full-scale sorption trials of activated carbon, non-carbon sorbents, as well as pilot-scale studies of fixed structure mercury sorbents, including mixed matrix membrane technology.  In particular, the talk will focus on overcoming challenges associated with conventional sorbents including Hg/SO3 selectivity. **(Most recent data will be included in the abstract closer to the meeting)
