This talk presents results for the nanostructure and mechanical properties of cross-linked polydimethylsiloxane networks containing silica particle fillers. The results were obtained using the Materials Studio FORCITE module. After equilibration, the nanocomposites were subjected to mechanical strain and the elastic modulus and strength were determined. The influences of cross-link density and filler volume fraction on microstructure and mechanical properties were evaluated. Simulation results will be compared with experimental data obtained using dynamic mechanical analysis.
