Substitution of fossil fuels is a concern nowadays because two main reasons: effect of fossil fuels in the environment and depletion of oil reservoirs and the subsequent rise of petroleum products. Alternative fuels such as ethanol, and biofuels are under investigation for their use as fuels [1,2]. Recently,   2,5-dimethylfuran (DMF) has been proposed as an alternative fuel or as additive [3,4] for automotive engines [2]. As many alternative fuels under investigation, its use is proposed first in alternative-fossil fuels formulations. One advantage of using DMF blended with gasoline is that lubricity properties are good [2]. Attention to DMF has been redirected now because of new advances in its synthesis [3], however must of the physicochemical properties  of DMF and DMF mixed with other chemicals are scarce. Hexane + 2,5-Dimethylfuran mixtures have been studied recently [5]. In this contribution, density and viscosity of blends of DMF and decane were study. Experimental measurements were performed form 293.15 to 333.15 K at atmospheric pressure. Density measurements were made with a vibrating tube densimeter (Anton Paar, model 4500 M) and viscosities were made using capillary viscometers (Cannon-Fenske).
