Today's world of project management is fast-paced, very competitive, and very challenging.  However, if we are not careful, we can get so swept up in the day-to-day pressing problems, that we neglect the most important factors that lead to long-term success.  This paper will review three major keys to successful project management that we all need to remember.  These keys involve setting excellent project objectives, working with people, and excellent planning.  We will review ways to set better project objectives, concepts to consider, and questions to ask as we begin a new project.  We will also explore how to better interact with customers, bosses, peers, service providers, and especially project team members.  Finally, we will review some basic important steps to successful project planning.  This presentation is designed to be useful for most projects, most of the time.  It will set the foundation for the many other aspects of project management that make today's activities more enjoyable and the long-term project a success.
