Abstract

The increasing interest on alternative separation processes has made the supercritical fluid extraction an affordable method due to its several advantages. However, the lack of good experimental data makes really hard to know the phase behavior of studied systems and develop these new processes.

In this work, vapor-liquid equilibrium for the binary system limonene + propane was measured at three different temperatures (323, 348 and 373) K using a static-analytic method coupled to a mobile sampler-injector. The ROLSI sampler has the advantage of taking a small enough sample to avoid perturbations of the equilibrium conditions. Within pressure steady state, samples of the vapor or liquid phase were sent to the gas chromatograph to determine its composition using the above mentioned sampler and the analytical and static equipment are connected on-line with a thermo-regulated tubing. This work is the next step of a systematic study for the limonene extraction by using supercritical fluids.
