This session will focus on application of nanostructured metal, and metal-semiconductor nanoparticles and films for enhanced light harvesting using surface plasmon polaritons. Such efficient light harvesting can be tuned from visible to infra-red wavelengths and used for variety of applications from solar cells, photo-detector, LED's to thermophotovoltaics for energy conversion. Invited speakers include: Teri W. Odom, Northwestern Univ.; Costas Soukoulis, Iowa State Univ.; Matthew Pelton, Argonne National Laboratory.
