Gold branched and porous plates were prepared by the reduction of HAuCl4 in the solution of polyethyleneglycol (PEG). PEG acted as both reducer and protective agent in reacted solutions. The crystal structures and the influence of PEG on the growth of gold branched and porous plates have been investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmittance electron microscopy (TEM) and UV-vis spectra. The gold branched plates had polygon head with tortuous tail (even above 3 μm). The gold porous plates prepared had equivalent diameter around 2.5 μm.
