Post combustion capture technology using chemical solvents has the greatest potential to reduce CO2 emissions in near future. A cost effective process is required to capture CO2 from flue gas streams which have CO2 partial pressure less than 15%.  For achieving this goal, developing novel solvents that have outstanding performance in terms of absorption capacity, absorption rate, and regeneration energy is a crucial step. In the current study, Intelligent Gravimetric Analyzer (IGA) is used to investigate the absorption capacity of different solvents. Moreover, computational molecular modeling employing Density Functional Theory (DFT) is used to calculate the basicity of alkanolamine solvents. The computational method showed good agreement with the obtained experimental data.
