The salt-lake brine and sea water are the main lithium sources since the large reserve yet with very low concentration about ppm level, thus, the adsorption process via suitable adsorbent with high lithium selective capacity is one of the most promising technology for lithium recovery from the liquid mixture, especially for brine with high Mg/Li molar ratio. Thus, in this paper, the granular type adsorbent MnO2 (H type of LiMn2O4) was prepared by the solvent-exchange method using PVC as a binder and N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone as solvent with different additive content, and the molded adsorbent was analyzed via X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and static/dynamic adsorption-desorption measurement compared with the super-fine powder adsorbent to analyze the influence of PVC binder on the structure and lithium adsorption property of the LiMn2O4 super-fine powder adsorbent. The results indicate that PVC-granulation process of LiMn2O4 superfine powder has little influence on the static adsorption capacity of the ion-sieve. The maximum lithium concentration of effluent is 8 times larger than the initial inlet liquid, which is applicable to extract lithium from brine or sea water.
