Advances in Process Control II

Chair(s)

Crisalle, O. D., Dept. of Chemical Engineering

This session emphasizes papers that address recent advances in process control, with highlights on contributions that advance the state of the art on real-time control of batch process systems. Priority will be given to papers that present novel theories, innovative control strategies, or the definition of new process-control areas. The scope of the session topics includes (1) modeling and simulation for process control purposes, (3) advances in real-time control algorithms and techniques, such as run-to-run and predictive control, for example, (4) integration of batch-process modeling, control, and optimization, (5) novel methods for batch process control, (6) real-time control for agile batch manufacturing, and (7) plant-wide control. Application areas of particular interest include the control of microelectronic, pharmaceutical, and bioengineering batch processes. Papers on the topic of optimization and scheduling of batch processing operations will be considered only if the contribution contains a real-time control component.
