In an effort to understand the process behavior of the top site facilities in PETRONAS' oil field, Field A, several case studies were conducted to gain an insight into the production profile prediction by varying water cut and well head pressure using PETRONAS' in-house steady state process simulation software, iCON. The Water Cut Normalization technique and Back Flashed technique were used in the model and the results matched the production profiles in the field.
The model showed the allowable operating envelope so that the process expert can push the operating envelope to the process limit. Abnormal operating conditions were also considered in the model to confirm the results accuracy. The developed techniques can replace multi phase high pressure sampling with single phase low pressure sampling. Operating envelopes given in the models also identified the process potentials with existing equipment fidelity.
