The average age of workers in the chemical process industries exceeds 50 years old. The pending retirement of many of these workers in the next 5 to 10 years has created increased attention to the problem of retaining and transferring their unique knowledge and skills in the development, design, operation, and business acumen. However, the problem of efficient transfer of knowledge has a much greater need than pending retirements. More important is the rapid acceleration of the pace of global business. As new markets, products, and manufacturing facilities are created around the world we have a pressing need to accelerate and make the transfer of knowledge more efficient and effective.

This presentation will present a framework used by many organizations within and outside the CPI for rapid knowledge transfer. Examples will be presented as well as a chance for the participants to work through a real problem during the session.
