(36b) Conquering Innovation Fatigue in Corporations: Helping Chemical Engineers Reach Their Innovation Potential

Chemical engineers have been among the most productive innovators of the past several decades, with broad and flexible skills that can deliver creative solutions to numerous problems. However, innovation productivity of engineers in corporations is often suppressed by a series of sometimes invisible or silent innovation killers. Innovators and management need to understand these "innovation fatigue factors" in order to find solutions or workarounds and help creative engineers realize their potential. We will discuss several concepts, including the "Horn of Innovation" paradigm, guidance on creating a healthy innovation culture, tips for strengthening the "will to share" in your innovation community, and recommendations for engineers facing internal innovation barriers.
