The ability to control the size and shape of energetic materials is essential in preparing crystals which have enough mechanical strength and high purity in military formulation. In the present study, yellow crystals of 1,1-diamino-2,2-dinitroethylene (DADNE) were precipitated by cooling of saturated solution under various operating conditions including cooling rate, stirring rate, solvent, and co-solvent composition. X-ray diffraction analysis of the DADNE crystals showed highly crystalline nature of gamma form. SEM images of DADNE crystals showed shapes of bundled needle, platelet and rhombic. The particle sizes were ranged from 100 to 500 micrometer.
