(31e) Chemical Engineering Demographics of Hispanic American Students in Higher-Education Institutions

The purpose of this review is to assess statistics on enrollment and awarded degrees --- BS, MS, and PhD --- in chemical engineering from colleges in the United States for Hispanic American students. The source of the statistics is primarily published reports by the National Science Foundation. From these data annual trends are determined for the last ten years, or more. The trends for BS degrees and graduate degrees indicate a small but steady increase for all Hispanic Americans; but for females the number of degrees is accelerating. This review indicates that changes are warrented to encourage more K-12 students to consider careers in chemical engineering.
