Carnahan, B. - Presenter, University of Michigan

In 1959 (there) the Ford Foundation funded a multi-year project at the University of Michigan to develop teaching materials and train engineering faculty (from 65 universities) in engineering computing. The goal was broad-scale introduction of computer-oriented topics, problems, and projects into undergraduate courses. This presentation highlights computing developments and use of computers in engineering education during the ensuing 50 years (to here). We conclude with some conjectures about computing in education in the not-too-distant future (to where?).
