The performance of hydrotalcite catalyst in propane autothermal reforming(ATR) for hydrogen production was investigated in fix-bed flow reactor. Reactions were conducted with a feed stream of H2O/C/O2=3/1/0.37 in the temperature range from 300 to 700 °C. Catalysts were characterized by XRD, TGA and TEM methods. During the manufacturing of Ru or Pd modified hydrotalcite catalyst, various solvents were used to dissolve the noble metal. Using solvents of 0.1M HNO3, ethanol and mixture of ethanol and water in Pd-Ni/MgAl catalyst increased hydrogen yield than using solvent of water. Also, using solvents of acetone, acetonitrile, ethylacetate in Ru-Ni/MgAl catalyst increased hydrogen yield than using solvent of only water. It is expected that changing of solvents on noble metals effected nickel particle's degree of dispersion, nickel particle size and restrain of carbon deposit caused enhanced hydrogen selectivity and reduced catalyst's activation.
