Nano-Particle Toughening of Epoxy Composites Using Polyethyleneimine Dendrimer Shell Materials

A novel technique has been developed for toughening epoxy polymers used in composite materials. This technique uses specifically engineered core-shell nano-particles to both increase the ultimate strength and the stiffness of the polymer. This paper investigates the effects of the polyethyleneimine dendrimer shell material on the physical properties of the epoxy polymer.
