It is well known that porous carbon material is one of the most useful absorbents and catalyst supports. In the fuel cell system, the carbon materials such as carbon black, activated carbon, carbon nanotube, etc. have been used as an electrode and catalyst support. Recently, the preparation of ordered mesoporous carbon (OMC) by replication techniques using ordered mesoporous silica (OMS) as the templates. It is very important to control the porosity and porestructure of the materials in terms of the reactant diffusion and the size of active sites. Here we report noble approaches for the synthesis of OMC with newly created tuneable micropore system and various mesostructures. The micropore can be controlled by the amount of the silica nanoparticle template and the mesotructure was controlled by the use of OMS with various mesostructures. Moreover, the relationship between the formation of Pt catalyst and the OMC supports will also be discussed as a function of the OMC supports.
