Polyurethane-imide (PUI) were successfully synthesized from the soft segment of poly(ethylene adipate)diol (PEA) and hard segments via a two-step method. The hard segment of PUI was from 4, 4'-methylenebisphenylisocyanate (MDI) and pyromelltic acid dianhydride (PMDA). The structures and properties of PUI thus obtained were characterized by means of FT-IR, and XRD. The results showed that the polymers had expected structures with urethane and imide groups,. Furthermore, the membranes of PUI were prepared by solution casting, and the pervaporation (PV) performances were investigated for separating benzene/cyclohexane mixture. And PUI membranes had a specific permeation flux of 15.64kg?µm?m-2?h-1 and separation factor of 7.75 for 50wt% benzene in the benzene/cyclohexane mixture at 40°C. With the feed temperatures increasing, the flux of the PUI membranes was enhanced from 15.64kg?µm?m-2?h-1 to 76.84 kg?µm?m-2?h-1, but the separation factor was reduced from 7.75 to 4.96.
