We describe a new class of biomedical microdevices based on self-assembling 3D polyhedra. The polyhedra are fabricated from lithographically structured 2D templates and fold on a thermal trigger. We have utilized the polyhedra as containers for on-demand remote controlled delivery to live cells and in tissue. We will also describe experiments in cell encapsulation and imaging.
