The effects of different concentrations of sodium in water on the concentration of sodium in the Arabidopsis thaliana plants were determined, and thus, the effect on plant growth is stated. Plants were grown in different water samples, and the water samples' concentrations of sodium were measured using the atomic absorption spectrometer. After digesting the grown plants, their sodium concentrations were determined. The results showed that higher concentration of sodium in water generally leads to higher concentration of sodium in the plants; however, it differs in individual cases. Growth in our experiment was best when sodium was present in moderate amounts.
