Experimental liquid densities of hexane + benzothiophene mixtures are presented here as a part of a systematic study in order to remove sulfur compounds from Mexican fuels [1-6].
Hexane mixed with other alkanes and benzothiophene will be used as synthetic fuel. Aims of these series of studies are simulating a gasoline or diesel fuel and get basic information to develop a process in which we will be able to remove benzothiophene from this mixture and from Mexican fuels.
A Vibrating Tube Densitometer coupled to a visible sapphire cell was used to perform these measurements. This apparatus has shown to be capable of determine experimental liquid densities of pure compounds and mixtures [1,2].
Experimental densities of hexane measured are in a good agreement with those reported in literature [7-9]. BWRS equation of state was used to fit experimental data and calculate excess molar volumes of mixtures measured [10].
