Advances in Drug Delivery: Novel Delivery Mechanisms

Chair(s)

Berkland, C. J., University of Kansas

Co-chair(s)

Nof, M., Eli Lilly and Company

This session is devoted to fundamentals in the development of controlled and targeted drug delivery systems, investigation of new materials for drug delivery and ways to design intelligent controlled release systems. Of particular interest are studies combining characterization of physicochemical properties and their impact on drug delivery performance. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: Novel drug release mechanisms and routes; Drug/polymer interactions, partitioning, solubilization; Kinetics, diffusion, dissolution; Controlled drug transport through tissue; Physical and biochemical methods of drug targeting; Delivery of proteins, genes, carbohydrates and vaccines; Supersaturated systems/pharmaceutical solids within drug formulations; Mathematical modeling; solids within drug delivery formulations. This session is the general drug delivery session, and complementary to sessions 15b03 and 15d10.
