Since the dawn of civilization, infrastructure has been recognized as the enabling foundation for economic growth. For the 21st century, given the pervasive role of IT (information technology), this is manifest in the form of "infrastructure convergence", with cyberinfrastructure at the hub of transportation, energy and other classical infrastructure elements. This talk considers the strategy for fostering economic growth via cyberinfrastructure investments - from regional to national scales - via a set of illustrative examples from projects in progress.
