Senior Engineer Bill Thompson provided a comprehensive overview of cross flow membrane filtration used to separate contaminants and fines. A 1979 Clemson graduate in chemical engnieering, Bill has worked in a wide variety of positions  ranging from plant support, & maintenance to Process R&D. He has been involved in process scale-up, technology transfer, and project engineering using this technology.  He has worked in a variety of industries from PET X-Ray film, to fertilizer and mineral processing, the Lithium industry, and, since 2008, in specialty monomers and polymers with Ortec, Inc.  located here in SC.  Bill will provide an indepth explanation how cross flow memberane filtration works and give examples of how it has been applied in the Kaolin, Lithium and polymer industries.

Meeting was held at Clemson University - in hybrid format (in person and ZOOM virtual option) - hosted by the students and faculty- COVID protocols required all parties to be masked while indoors regardless of vaccination status.

Dinner was served beginning at 6:00,  prior to the presentation.  In additon, Tiffany, a chemical engineering student, led a tour through the unit operations laboratory.  This was a great opportunity for experienced engineers to see how Clemson students get hands-on appliaction learning at Clemson University.

Presentation ile is attachd.
