2016 AIChE Singapore Local Section Awards

The 2nd Annual AIChE Singapore Local Section Award 2016 ceremony was held on July 20, 2016 in NUS. Nominations were called for the different award categories of Singapore location section and the winners were announced in this event. The following are the categories and the respective winners

Industry Award (Individual) Winners:

• Mr. Lucas Ng Hong Kiang (Petrochemical Corporation of Singapore (Private) Limited)
• Mr. Hoon Kiang Tan (Lloyd’s Register Global Technology Center Singapore)

Industry Award (Group) Winners:

• Ng Jian Ying Brendan, Chong Kok Yong, Chong Kok Yong and Zhong Dahua (Mitsui Phenols Singapore Pte Ltd)
• Ng Chai Ling, Benjamin Tan Chun Ming, Foo Suan Kim, Ho Yeow Hsing (Petrochemical Corporation of Singapore (Private) Limited)

Outstanding Undergraduate Research Project/Thesis Award Winners:

• Sharad Kumar (Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, National University of Singapore)
• Alison Wong Jia Hui (Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, National University of Singapore)

Outstanding Postgraduate Research Thesis Award Winners:

• Dr. Hao Lin (Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, National University of Singapore)
• Dr. Jithin John Varghese (School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, Nanyang Technological University)

For this category, the awards committee concluded that there were three other nominations that were also good and therefore decided to award Honorable Mention Awards to three postgraduates. The following are the recipients

• Dr. Hua Dan (Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, National University of Singapore)
• Dr. Hari Prakash Veluswamy (Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, National University of Singapore)
• Dr. Chen Xi (Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, National University of Singapore)

Service Awards:

Three service awards were presented in recognition of their outstanding contributions to AIChE Singapore Local Section. The recipients are

• Prof Ning Yan  (Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, National University of Singapore)
• Annabelle Ng and Du Bowen (AIChE NUS Student Chapter)
