The Poddar Award for Rising Chemical Engineers


Award Criteria

  • Be a current AIChE Professional Member 
  • Graduated from their undergraduate university in 2018 or later (2019, 2020, 2021, or 2022)
  • Participated actively in their undergradaute AIChE Student Chapter
  • Current or recent active participation in AIChE (committee, division, forum, local section, etc.)
  • Demonstrated promotion of engineering in your local community

Awardee Recognition

The winner will receive:

  • A $500 USD prize
  • Membership to AIChE at no charge in 2023
  • Registration to the 2022 AIChE Annual Meeting
  • A $1,500 USD travel stipend to attend the AIChE Annual Meeting
  • A mentor during their time at the AIChE Annual Meeting (mentor pairing TBD)

Once your letters of recommendation in hand, complete the application and upload the letters. All letters of recommendation must be on company/university letterhead with a handwriten signature (no electronic signatures).

The John C. Chen Young Professional Leadership Scholarship


There will be three winners in 2020.  Winners will receive:

  • Enrollment in the virtual PEAK Leadership program
  • Conference registration at the AIChE Annual Meeting
  • $600 award 
  • A one on one career counseling session
  • Interview with ChEencted to be shared throughout AIChE’s global community

AIChE's 35 Under 35 Award


Award Criteria

Each nominee must be nominated for a specific award category.  Winners will be designated and awarded in each category, totalling 35 winners overall.

Nominees will be critiqued on their involvement within AIChE throughout their career, their excellence shown in the specific award category, their professional activities outside of work relating to the award category, and their potential for future growth within AIChE and their career field.

All nominees must be current (2020) AIChE members. Please confirm this with your nominee prior to submitting their nomination. 

Each nominee must have been born on or after January 1, 1986.

All nominations will be reviewed by experts in each of the award categories, as well as by a core nomination review team.  

Awardee Recogniton

The 35 individuals chosen for this award will:

  • Receive a $500 prize
  • Receive complimentary registration to the 2020 AIChE Annual Meeting 
  • Be recognized at an awards reception at the 2020 AIChE Annual Meeting
  • Have their profiles highlighted throughout AIChE and the chemical engineering community
