John has over 40 years of experience in chemical manufacturing and process safety with jobs in the chemical industry, consulting and government. He is currently an independent consultant and retired from the U. S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board where is was a lead investigator and the Dow Chemical Company where he was a leader in process safety.
Currently he provides process safety services as a independent consultant and serves as a staff consultant to the Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS). As a staff consultant for CCPS he has managed many book projects and is an author and trainer for Process Safety Boot Camp, a four day course on risked based process safety and process safety technology.
He has taught over 35 Process Safety Boot Camp courses around the world. John has also been an organizer and frequent speaker at the Global Congress on Process Safety. He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers where he is a leader in the Safety and Health Division and associate editor of the magazine, Process Safety Progress. He is an Emeritus member and Fellow of the Technical Steering Committee of the Center for Chemical Process Safety.
John is a professional engineer in the state of Texas. He has a B. S. in Chemical Engineering from Tufts University and an M. B. A. in management from Central Michigan University.
