Minority Affairs Committee's Award for Outstanding Scholastic Achievement

Recognizes outstanding achievements by a chemical engineering student who serves as a role model for minority students.

A plaque, Annual Meeting registration, and a $500 travel allowance to attend the Annual Meeting.

Presentation: 
The award is presented at the AIChE Annual Meeting during the MAC Real Talk Speed Mentoring Event on Sunday, October 29th. The recipient is expected to attend this event.
Instructions: 
This award is selected from applications received by the MAC Awards Committee.  A complete application will include the following components:
 
1. One (1) statement by applicant elaborating on scholastic achievements in chemical engineering to date and examples of how the applicant serves as a role model for underrepresented minority students, especially in chemical engineering and related fields
2. Applicant’s resume or CV
3. Applicant’s unofficial transcript(s)
4. At least two and no more than three recommendation letters from students who have been mentored by the applicant, providing examples of mentoring received by the applicant and the impact of this mentoring.  One letter may be submitted by a faculty or staff member who has worked with the applicant in activities that allowed the faculty or staff member to observe the applicant’s mentoring abilities.
