This presentation is an overview of the LOPA process. How/why it is used instead of, or in addition to HAZOPs and What-Ifs to identify hazardous scenarios. It discusses best practices on conducting a LOPA review, as well as initiating event, and to determine whether safeguards qualify as Independent Protection Layers (IPL).

Ms. Prats manages various aspects of process safety management (PSM) including audits, process hazard analyses (PHAs), facility siting studies and quantitative risk analyses (QRAs) for ioMosaic. She also has extensive background with pressure relief and flare system design and analysis for large chemical and petrochemical companies.
