Phase Equilibria Concepts Originally delivered Oct 7, 2015 Source: AIChE Type: Archived WebinarLevel: Basic Duration: 1 hour PDHs: 1.00 Share This Post: Preview Webinar: Phase equilibria usually determines what type of separation process will be economical. Modeling of phase equilibria relies upon mathematical representation of chemical potential or fugacity; such abstract terminology can be intimidating. To avoid getting bogged down in theory, this webinar discusses the three practical steps that necessary to move from experimental phase equilibrium data to integration of the models in process simulators. This presentation provides an overview of the industrial approaches for representing phase behavior with activity coefficients and perspective on models that include representation of hydrogen bonding. Presenter(s): Carl Lira Carl T. Lira is co-author of the widely-used textbook Introductory Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials Science at Michigan State University. He teaches thermodynamics at all levels, chemical kinetics, and material and energy balances. His research accomplishments include experimental measurements and modeling for liquid metals, supercritical fluids, adsorptive separations, and liquid-vapor, solid-liquid, and liquid-liquid phase equilibria. Currently, Professor Lira specializes in the study of...Read more Once the content has been viewed and you have attested to it, you will be able to download and print a certificate for PDH credits.
