ZnCeFe2O4 based ferrites supported on the graphene oxide (GO-ZnCeFe2O4) are synthesized through sol-gel method which exhibit enhanced efficiency in the removal of mercury. The nanocomposite is characterized by Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), FTIR and XRD. Nano-sized GO-ZnCeFe2O4 are successfully synthesized as confirm by SEM and XRD. To better understand removal efficiency of GO-ZnCeFe2O4, we conducted the heavy metal removal activity of different composition of nanocomposite for mercury. In the same concentration and time conditions, graphene based ferrites shows the highest removal efficiency, as compare to the others. Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) tests were also conducted to verify the catalyst results. This GO-ZnCeFe2O4 represent a highly potential material for heavy metals removal and remediation of other contaminants in the wastewater.
