Sustainable Biodegradable Polymers from Renewable & Waste Resources

Chair(s)

Ramarao, B. V., State Univ of New York

Co-chair(s)

Kumar, D., SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry

Biobased polymers such as polyhdroxy alkanoates, polylactic acid (PLA) and poly glutamic acid (PGA) are attractive substitutes for plastic materials because they biodegrade in the environment. This session is focused on biodegradable, bioresourced materials such as the bacterial polyesters - PHAs, PLA, lignin biopolymers and such biodegradable materials, their processing, properties and applications. The session is focused on materials sources from renewable, waste materials from industrial or forest resources.
