This session focuses on the beneficial use of carbon dioxide (CO2) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to the atmosphere and monetize waste carbon streams. The overall objective is to explore technologies that beneficially use CO2 to produce valuable products and recycle CO2 back into the economy. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the catalytic conversion of CO2 to value-added chemicals, fuels, and polymers; bioconversion; reactions using CO2 as an oxidant; and CO2 mineralization. Converting CO2 into useful products provides opportunities to reduce carbon emissions in areas lacking geological CO2 storage or even in cases where large-scale conventional carbon capture of a point source is not practical. Employing utilization technologies may also improve the economic viability of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) deployment.
